The meaning
Amor vincit omnia, love conquers all, comes from the Roman poet Virgil, who wrote omnia vincit amor in his Eclogues around 38 BC. The phrase has traveled ever since: in Chaucer's Canterbury Tales, the Prioress wears a gold brooch inscribed with it.
The back says the same thing in modern words: two hearts, one beat. Two lives that keep their own shape and still move in step.
The design
The front shows a heart with wings, pierced by an arrow and crowned with a rose, with Amor Vincit Omnia in gothic letters across it. The back shows two overlapping hearts wrapped in a banner reading Two Hearts, One Beat, framed by roses, with a small bird at one side.
On good days and hard days
- On good days, it is a small token of the bond you share, carried by both of you as a private promise.
- On hard days, when you are apart or going through a rough patch together, it reminds you both that love conquers all and that two hearts can still keep one beat.
Carry it
Buy two and each keep one. One customer did exactly that: one for themselves and one for the person they are seeing, and started carrying theirs before they had even handed over the other. It is a small, private reminder that works well across long distance.
Give it
It is a lasting Valentine's Day or anniversary gift, and it travels in a wallet or a pocket. If you like anniversary traditions, copper is the 7th anniversary metal and bronze the 8th, so those finishes fit those years. It also suits a wedding, an engagement or a partner deployed far from home. For keys, there is a matching Love Key Tag.
Specs
- Diameter: 1.54 in (39 mm), about the size of a silver dollar
- Thickness: 2.7 mm
- Weight: about 1 oz (28 g)
- Material: brass alloy (Antique Bronze, Antique Silver) or solid copper (Antique Copper)
- Made: die struck, minted in the USA
- Each coin is antiqued with a special patina so it looks like it has already been in circulation. The patina never settles the same way twice, so no two coins look exactly alike. Small variations in color and shading are normal, and they are what make your coin one of a kind.
