The meaning
Post fata resurgo means “after death I rise again.” It comes from the old story of the phoenix, the bird that burns and returns from its own ashes. The back adds the part people forget: rising again is a decision, and strength is a choice you make each morning.
On good days and hard days
- On good days, it celebrates how far you have come since you started over.
- On hard days, when you are in the ashes of something that ended, it reminds you that you can rise again, and that strength is a choice you make each morning.
Why a key tag
A coin can stay in a drawer. Keys can't. This tag goes wherever you go and you see it every time you lock a door or start the car, which makes it a good fit for new keys after a move or a fresh start. It carries the same artwork as the Phoenix Coin: the phoenix rising with wings spread from the flames on the front, and a sword through a banner reading “Strength is a choice” on the back.
Give it
It is our go to fresh start gift: for someone rebuilding after a divorce, a job loss, an illness or a hard year, or for anyone getting new keys after a move. It says you believe they will rise again.
Specs
- Diameter: 1.54 in (39 mm)
- Thickness: 2.7 mm
- Weight: about 1 oz (28 g)
- Material: brass alloy, Antique Bronze finish
- Made: die struck, minted in the USA
- Each key tag is antiqued with a special patina so it looks like it has already been in circulation. The patina never settles the same way twice, so no two key tags look exactly alike. Small variations in color and shading are normal, and they are what make yours one of a kind.
- Key ring included
Questions
What does post fata resurgo mean?
Latin for “after death I rise again.” It is linked to the phoenix and is used as a motto for coming back after a loss.
What is a good gift for someone starting over?
Something for the new keys. This tag reminds them every day that strength is a choice and that they can rise again.
Is it the same design as the Phoenix Coin?
Yes, the artwork is the same on both sides. The key tag simply adds a loop so it can hang from your keys.
Will my key tag look exactly like the photos?
Very close, but never identical. Each key tag is antiqued with a special patina that settles differently every time, so small variations in color and shading from the photos are normal. They are what make yours one of a kind.
