The meaning
As above, so below is the best known line of Hermeticism. It comes from the Emerald Tablet, a short text credited to Hermes Trismegistus that first appears in Arabic writings over a thousand years ago. The idea is that the same patterns run through the stars and through a single person. As within, so without adds the practical half: your inner life shapes your outer one.
The back carries it into daily life. A seed holds the whole tree in small form, and a mind holds the life it will build. What you think and grow inside shows up in what you create.
The design
The front places an atom at the center, ringed by orbits, planetary symbols, the sun and the moon, so the smallest and the largest things share one picture. The back shows a tree of life whose roots spread below the ground in a mirror image of its branches: as above, so below.
On good days and hard days
- On good days, it is a reminder that the calm and good you build inside shows up in the world around you.
- On hard days, when life outside feels chaotic, it invites you to start within: steady your mind first, and the rest follows. As within, so without.
Carry it
Keep it on an altar, a desk or in a pocket as a cue to look inward when the outside feels chaotic. One customer calls it a great pocket reminder of the good to find; another sums it up in a single word: perfect.
Give it
It suits someone who loves astrology, tarot, meditation or the history of mystical ideas, and also the science reader who likes the atom and orbit imagery. Customers call it a great gift and an inspiring, well designed piece.
